What track is best for your home?
A bi-fold threshold acts as a track for the door carriage to smoothly glide along when being opened or closed. Origin recommends using a weathered (also called a ‘rebated’) threshold, which is unobtrusively installed into the floor, resulting in a very small 14mm lip from the outside to the inside. This design allows the bottom seal of the bi-fold door to press against the lip, creating a secure seal that safeguards it against severe weather.
In contrast, non-weathered thresholds offer a flat transition between interior and exterior spaces. While they lack a raised section, they do not provide the best weatherproofing performance since the door seal does not have the solid lip to press against. These thresholds are only suitable for internal or sheltered spaces.
