Home Improvement Trends Set To Take Off In 2024

We can’t help ourselves from setting new goals and aspirations at the beginning of each year and the hardest part is often not achieving them, but at least attempting to follow through with them.

Make 2024 the year that you try and fulfil all the promises you’ve made to yourself, especially the one that centres on improving your home as there’s so much to benefit from its execution.

We’ll motivate you into doing it by alerting you to some of the forecasted home design trends of 2024.

Sweet Embrace™ – Dulux Colour of the Year

Two movies stormed the box-office last year – Oppenheimer and Barbie – and it’s our favourite fashion doll, played by Margot Robbie, that’s seemingly influenced Dulux’s choice for their Colour of the Year – Sweet Embrace™.

Sweet Embrace™ is a more restrained pink than the brash shade she so likes to wear, classed as a blossom pink, which has delicate hints of grey and blue. Dulux says they selected it in response to people’s yearning for belonging and reassurance in an uncertain world.

Bring out your bold side and colour drench a room in Sweet Embrace™ or if that’s too extreme for your taste, stick to just painting an accent wall or accessorising a space with rugs, vases, and scatter cushions in the colour.

Retro Interiors

A desire for a slower pace of living is also reflected in the expected revival of 70’s style interiors.

Get set for the reappearance of large geometric patterns adorning walls and floors in living areas, along with natural wood dressing tables and bureaus, velvet materials, and traditional wall tiles.

Purchasing Envisage flush windows from Eden would fit in with the theme of taking a step back in time, stylistically at least, as they have a design replicating the aesthetic of some of the earliest glazed timber windows.

Curvy Mirrors

Trends can come and go, but some constantly stick around, like mirrors have. The specific trend in mirrors in 2024 will be curvy mirrors – no lounge, hallway or bedroom should be without one.

Have fun with them and go for some oddly shaped designs that visitors can’t take their eyes off whilst revelling in the wealth of natural light they bounce around the room.

Visit a second-hand shop to do it on a budget, where there’s bound to be mirrors in all shapes, sizes and materials. Go for one big statement mirror on a dominant wall or snap up several smaller mirrors and display them in a cluster.
