From prepping your space before our team arrives to knowing exactly what to expect during the installation, and even what aftercare services we provide — we’ve got it all laid out for you.
We believe that informed customers are confident customers, and our aim is to make the entire process as smooth and hassle-free as possible.
Whether you’re new to Eden Windows or a returning customer, this guide to a home installation will help ensure you’re fully prepared, so you can enjoy a seamless home installation experience!
Before the Project: Getting Ready for Installation
Proper preparation is key to a successful home installation, and it all begins with a detailed site survey. Before we even provide you with a quote, we conduct an initial assessment to establish a strong foundation for your project.
Once your order is confirmed, we’ll schedule a comprehensive survey. This is where we take accurate measurements, check for any potential challenges, and ensure that every detail is accounted for before we begin the installation.
If your project requires planning permission or building regulations approval, there’s no need to stress. We’ll guide you through the process and ensure that all necessary approvals are secured before work commences.
Though installation timelines can vary depending on the scope of the project—whether it’s windows, doors, or creating a new living space—we provide an estimated lead time in your contract paperwork. This way, you’ll have a clear idea of the schedule from the outset.
The Importance of the Initial Site Survey
The initial site survey is a key part of the process that we take care of before giving you a quote for your window fitting cost, door fitting cost, or conservatory installation. It helps us get a clear picture of the project, take some early measurements, and gather important details about your home.
This way, we’re all on the same page from the start, and we can provide an accurate quote for the work. By sorting this out early, we avoid any unexpected surprises later on and make sure everything runs smoothly!
The Whole Survey Process
A few weeks after placing your order, one of our friendly surveyors will be in touch to set up a full survey. This is a really important step, as it allows us to take detailed measurements and check over the site to make sure everything’s in order for the installation.
Our surveyors do more than just take measurements – they’ll also look out for any potential issues, like access challenges or complications with building works. By catching these early, we can avoid delays and keep your project running smoothly from start to finish!
Getting the Necessary Approvals in Order
For some home renovation projects, planning permission or building regulations approval might be required, depending on the type of work involved. We understand that navigating these processes can feel overwhelming, but don’t worry — we’re here to guide you through it!
We’ll explain exactly what’s needed and take care of submitting any required documents. Securing these approvals before installation day is crucial to ensure everything is compliant and to avoid any last-minute surprises.
Please keep in mind that while we’ll advise on regulatory matters in good faith, it’s ultimately the property owner’s responsibility to obtain all necessary permissions and approvals. This includes Planning Permissions, Building Regulations, Build Over Agreements, Management Company Approvals, and Party Wall Act Agreements, among others.
During the Work: What to Expect on Installation Day
When our installation team arrives, you can relax knowing that everything is in good hands. Our fitters will introduce themselves and go over the job details with you to double-check that everything is correct and ready to go.
We prioritise safety during installation, so you don’t have to worry. We’ll take the necessary steps to protect your home and everyone in it. If you have pets or young children, we recommend keeping them in a safe space away from the work area.
To keep things tidy, we’ll lay down dust sheets to protect surfaces, and before we leave, we’ll clean up so your home looks just as it did—aside from the brand-new windows or doors, of course!
Introductions with the Eden Team and Checking Everything Over
The first thing our fitters will do when they arrive is introduce themselves, ensuring you feel comfortable from the start. Before jumping into the work, they’ll walk through the project details with you to confirm everything’s set.
Next, they’ll carefully inspect all the products to be installed, making sure everything is correct and ready to go. By catching any issues upfront, we can avoid delays and keep the installation running smoothly from start to finish.
The Project Installation Steps and Safety Protocols
Our installation process is carefully planned to ensure both efficiency and safety. To protect your home, our team will cover areas prone to dust accumulation, such as windowsills and furniture, with dust sheets.
We aim to keep disruption to a minimum and will thoroughly clean up before we leave, ensuring your home is left in the same condition as when we arrived.
In addition, we strictly adhere to safety protocols, including keeping pets and children safely away from the work area to ensure a secure environment throughout the installation.
Being Available for Questions
While most of the installation is already planned out, there may be moments when our fitters need to check in with you or confirm a detail or two.
We try to keep things hassle-free, so we won’t need much from you, but being around for quick clarifications can help things move along smoothly.
If any bigger issues pop up or you have any questions during the project, our project managers are always ready to step in. Our high project manager involvement ensures the handling of any concerns that come up, making sure everything stays on track.
At Eden, your satisfaction is important to us
After the installation is done, we make sure everything is finished properly with a few key steps. We’ll do a final check of the work, fix any issues, and make sure you’re happy with everything.

Final Inspection and Your Peace of Mind

This step ensures the results meet your expectations and gives us a chance to make any last adjustments.
We’ll also explain Eden’s 10-year guarantee, which gives you great value and peace of mind. If you choose our Extreme range, you’ll get a 20-year guarantee for even more reassurance.

Frequently asked questions
How long will it take to complete the installation?
It very much depends on the product type that’s being fitted. After the submission of planning and building regulations documentation, when necessary, you’re looking at around 8 weeks on from there for a conservatory to be installed. If your existing conservatory base needs updating, the replacement base may need a 4-week break to dry before we start working on the framework. Building and installing the structure will take an average of 7-14 days to do.
As for windows and doors, installing 4-5 windows into brickwork normally requires a day’s work, but if it involves rendering or there are any complications, it could take a bit longer. Sliding sash windows, particularly those involving box sash removals, will take around a day for a pair of windows. Residential doors are typically finished in half a day, whereas a bi-folding door will generally need a full day to install. No two projects are the same, so timescales can differ from job-to-job.
Do you need me to be at home for the fitting?
We understand that you have a busy life, so we don’t specify that you must be present. However, it can be useful for you to be around in case our installers have any questions or they need your authority to do something. One thing we do ask is that for conservatory installations we have access to power, water and welfare facilities. Ahead of any other kind of installation, we’ll coordinate with you to ensure that we have everything required to complete it without a hitch.
How can I get my home prepared before the installation?
Our van will need to be parked up close to your home, so make some space for it and out of politeness, tell your neighbours about the installation. In the area where the work will take place, remove anything that is fragile, as well as curtains or blinds that may impede. Keep cabling out of the way, relocating them elsewhere, and the same goes for doorbells and satellite dishes. Organise a parking permit if there are restrictions on your street.
What aftercare is offered?
As part of our guarantee, you qualify for responsive aftercare whenever you need it – a team of friendly advisors is only a phone call away. We sincerely hope that you don’t experience any issues with your home improvement solution, but if e.g. a lock isn’t functioning properly, get straight in touch and a service engineer will be sent out without delay to rectify the problem.
